RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The company known for its Little Debbie brand snack cakes is planning to expand production at its Augusta County manufacturing facility, creating 78 jobs.

Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell on Tuesday said that McKee Foods Corp. plans to invest $19 million in the expansion at its Stuarts Draft facility.

McKee Foods has had operations in the central Virginia for more than 20 years. Company officials say the expansion will add to the more than $46 million annual economic impact the facility has in the community.

The Tennessee-based company has annual sales of more than $1 billion. Its brands also include Sunbelt, Heartland and Fieldstone Bakery.

McDonnell approved a $200,000 grant from the Governor's Opportunity Fund for the project. The company also is eligible for a state tax credit.
