Thought Of The Day: Discrimination In The Workplace

Though the company admitted no wrongdoing, Clougherty Packing Co., the Hormel Foods subsidiary that makes Farmer John and Dodger Dogs products, has agreed to settle a discrimination suit brought by 2,000 women whose applications for entry-level jobs were rejected between 2007 and 2009.

Though the company admitted no wrongdoing, Clougherty Packing Co., the Hormel Foods subsidiary that makes Farmer John and Dodger Dogs products, has agreed to settle a discrimination suit brought by 2,000 women whose applications for entry-level jobs were rejected between 2007 and 2009. A statement from Hormel said in part:

"We strongly deny any wrongdoing and reiterate our commitment to a discrimination-free workplace for our employees. That said, we believe a settlement at this time is the right thing to do to allow Clougherty Packing to move forward with our business."
