Indiana Company’s Healthy Snacks Are Tasty, Too

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (AP) — A Noblesville company once best known for peddling sweet treats to schools, hospitals and other large institutions is branching out into a healthier line designed to appeal to health-conscious consumers.

The Darlington snack company is introducing its Appleways and Crave-n-Rave products to the retail market in response to stricter school-nutrition standards.

Owner and president Phil Hockemeyer tells the Indianapolis Business Journal the response to the new line has been "outstanding."

Hockemeyer plans to promote his healthy line by outfitting a custom-painted vintage school bus with iPad stations. Kids can play nutrition-focused games while adults get samples and coupons.

He says the rolling advertisement will visit schools during the week and appear at special weekend events.
