'Tis the season for the French wine Beaujolais Nouveau. The young wine is less prestigious than wines like Bordeaux and Champagne, so a grand marketing campaign is conducted annually to draw attention to Beaujolais Nouveau. Revelers as far away as Japan and the United States also take part in the celebration. Jean Bourjade of the professional association of Beaujolais growers, Inter Beaujolais, said:
Beaujolais represents only 0.3 percent of the land under cultivation for wine ... and yet it's one of the most well-known wines in the entire world.
