GREELEY, Colo. (AP) — The United Food and Commercial Workers Union says employees at JBS USA's Greeley meatpacking plant have overwhelmingly approved a five-year contract that includes wage increases and changes in the company's health-care proposal.

The Greeley Tribune reported Wednesday that Local 7 members ratified the agreement with 97 percent voting yes. The contract covers 3,000 workers.

Union officials say the company had proposed a health-care plan that would have required big increases in workers' costs and would give the company the power to change the plan at will.

The union says the final agreement includes an affordable health plan for the life of the contract. No details were available.

The agreement also provides $1.80 hourly pay increase over five years.

The deal was reached July 18 after 11 months of talks.
