BURKE, Va. (PRNewswire) — Marine-owned brewery, Fidelis Beer Company, launched in August with a mission to craft world-class beers for world-class causes. Already, their flagship beer, a farmhouse ale, has achieved a 95/100 rating on Beer Advocate — a consumer-based rating system for beer.
Brian Magee, the owner and founder of Fidelis Beer Company, recently took on a new challenge that draws on the Marine Corps' interesting history with beer. Born by an act of Congress on November 10, 1775, the Corps' first recruiting station was in a Philadelphia tavern. Brian was inspired by other breweries like Dogfish Head to create his take on what those first Marines would have been drinking in Tun Tavern. The result is an old ale appropriately named "1775." The beer will be a once-a-year seasonal batch brewed specifically in celebration of the Marine Corps Birthday.
In furthering their mission to craft "world-class beers for world-class causes," Fidelis Beer Company partnered with the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund as the beneficiary of proceeds from this beer. "Our goal is that during the season of the Marine Corps Birthday, we could offer a way for today's Marines to collectively enjoy the nostalgia of 'sharing a beer' with those who have gone before us while helping our brothers and sisters who have been most affected by the service our freedom demands," says Magee.
While yesterday's Marines had to buy their beer in a tavern, Fidelis Beer Company has partnered with a retailer to take orders online and ship to a handful of states outside their home base of Virginia.
