A CDC report calls for phasing out the routine use of antibiotics in livestock production. According to The Organic Center, if everyone chose one organic product out of every 10 items they purchased, more than 2.5 million pounds of antibiotics used in livestock each year could be eliminated.

Pointing out that every year more than two million people in the United States get infections resistant to antibiotics and at least 23,000 people die as a result, a new report issued this week by the CDC calls for phasing out the routine use of antibiotics in industrial livestock production that has been linked to antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
