TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Former Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp is no longer the CEO of a health drink company that so far isn't fulfilling commitments to create jobs after taking a $5 million grant from Lee County.
Kottkamp, who also lost a bid to be the state's attorney general, said in an email to The Associated Press late Wednesday that he has left VR Laboratories, a company that sells a variety of health drinks that claim to help anything from digestive function to trouble sleeping.
The company took a $5 million grant from Lee County in 2011 and promised to create 40 new full time jobs by the end of 2012 and 208 jobs by the end of 2016.
But the jobs haven't been created and the company's bottling plant hasn't opened.
