(Ethox Chemicals) — Ethox Chemicals, LLC, a leader in specialty chemical development and application analyses, announced today that it has filed a lawsuit against The Coca-Cola Company in the Greenville division of the U.S. Federal District Court in South Carolina for misappropriation of technology, including a new molecule that may revolutionize beverage packaging.  Ethox asserts that Coca-Cola is wrongfully seeking patent protection for new molecules discovered by Ethox, including a new molecule, called PEM, discovered by Ethox during chemical research and development for the next generation of soda bottles.  Ethox seeks recognition of its intellectual property rights, injunctive relief to bar the use of PEM without Ethox’s consent and damages associated with the misappropriation.

Chuck Hinton, Ethox’s President, stated, “Ethox has established expertise in the area of specialty chemical research and development, and we depend on our intellectual property for our success in this business.  While we seek to enable partners to share in our technological successes, we must aggressively protect and defend our intellectual property.”
