One of the challenges Peck faced when raising a small herd of dairy goats was finding the equipment to pasteurize the milk to make cheese. There were plenty of pasteurizers for big dairies but virtually nothing for smaller operations, like her herd of about 50 Nigerian dwarf goats. Peck was happy to find a small-scale pasteurizing machine that allows them to process from 15 to 35 pounds of milk.
