FLORIDA, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say the roof on a section of Beech-Nut Nutrition Corp.'s new food plant in the Mohawk Valley has collapsed.

Company President and CEO Jim Schneider says in a release that no one was injured when a small portion of the roof in the production area caved in Monday. The plant is in the town of Florida, 30 miles northwest of Albany.

Heavy snow was falling in the region but company officials say it's not known yet what caused the roof to give way around 9:30 a.m. The company says about 150 people were in the factory at the time.

The plant will remain closed until Wednesday.

Beech-Nut began shifting operations last year from its longtime plant in Canajoharie 20 miles east to the new infant food factory near Amsterdam.
