Wis. Man Sues Kraft For Wrongful Firing

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Fond du Lac man has filed a federal lawsuit accusing Kraft Foods of firing him rather than accommodating his bad back. James L. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Fond du Lac man has filed a federal lawsuit accusing Kraft Foods of firing him rather than accommodating his bad back.

James L. Brown was hired in 2001 at a Kraft frozen-pizza facility in Little Chute.

His lawsuit says he missed a few days of work in 2008 to get treatment for chronic back pain. The lawsuit says he was fired for his absence even though his back pain constituted a disability as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Kraft spokeswoman Joyce Hodel said Wednesday the company complies with all applicable employment laws, and will defend itself "vigorously."

The lawsuit filed last week names as defendants Kraft Foods Global Inc., Kraft Pizza Co. and Kraft Foods Inc. It seeks unspecified damages and reinstatement of Brown's job.
