BEAVERTON, OR – Beaverton Foods plans to expand its presence in the wasabi food products category with the recent acquisition of Florence, OR-based Pacific Farms™.

Domonic Biggi, Executive Vice President of Beaverton Foods, said the purchase of Pacific Farms was a natural fit for the 80-year-old family owned and operated manufacturer of hundreds of specialty gourmet condiments.

“Our use of wasabi has been growing, so the Pacific Farms’ acquisition made sense for us to continue to grow our business to become the category leader,” Biggi said.  “This acquisition makes Beaverton Foods the largest processor of real wasabi products in North America.  We will be taking real wasabi and making high quality products.  Most products now available in the marketplace are made with mustard flour, horseradish powder, fillers and artificial colors – not real wasabi.”

According to the Pacific Farms website, www.freshwasabi.com, the company started growing wasabi in 1992.  Today, the company ships its real wasabi paste to restaurants, food distributors and individual consumers throughout North America.

“I’m pleased our business that was conceived, incubated and grown in Oregon has been sold to an Oregon-based company,” noted Roy Carver, III, Founder of Pacific Farms.  “Beaverton Foods is the best company to take what we started to the next level.”

Beaverton Foods is the largest producer of non-refrigerated horseradish and award-winning specialty mustards in the US.  The company also offers a wide variety of best-selling gourmet sauces, garlic, spices, and other unique specialty condiments packaged under these labels: Beaver, Inglehoffer, Napa Valley and Tulelake.  In addition to its own brands, the company develops, produces and co-packs a broad range of products for companies in the country and abroad.
