HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) — A federal judge will hear arguments on whether to expedite a federal antitrust lawsuit challenging a poultry producer's purchase of a plant in Harrisonburg.

George's Inc. filed a motion last week seeking to expedite the lawsuit filed by the Justice Department. The company claims local poultry farmers could be harmed if the case is delayed.

George's announced in March that it plans to buy the plant from Tyson Food Inc. The Justice Department contends that the sale would reduce the number of poultry producers around Harrisonburg.

The agency opposes expediting the case.

The Daily News Record reports that U.S. District Judge Glen Conrad will hear arguments on George's motion Tuesday.
