TOKYO (Kyodo) — Kirin Beverage Co. said Friday it will voluntarily recall about 432,000 bottles of Volvic mineral water as it found the bottles tainted with mold.

Affected by the recall are 1-liter plastic bottles of mineral water that went on sale mainly in convenience stores nationwide and have consume-by dates of March 2 and 3 of 2013. The bottles were produced at a plant in France in March this year.

While the company said it has not received any reports of health-related complaints so far, it has halted shipments of the products.

Kirin said it detected the problem after receiving 10 reports on the mold from consumers this week.
