EAST POINT, Ga. (AP) — Federal authorities seized more than $700,000 worth of rice and other items from what regulators described as a rodent-infested metro Atlanta warehouse.

U.S. Marshals acting on a court order sought by the Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday seized the products from the warehouse operated by Sun Hong Kai Holding Inc., which does business as United Food Service.

An FDA inspection of the facility between Sept. 22 and Oct. 1 revealed a "widespread rodent infestation" that included live and dead rodents where food products are stored, according to the complaint.

They say they found 28 live rodents, one dead rodent and four rodent nesting sites.

State regulators banned any of the food in the warehouse from being sold.
