HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A former official with the multibillion-dollar charity that controls the Hershey candy company is withdrawing a court filing that claimed widespread financial irregularities at the charity.

Robert Reese said Monday he withdrew the petition in Dauphin County Orphans Court. He says his deteriorating vision will make it physically impossible to continue the case, and that he believes the state attorney general's office will actively review the matters he raised.

The boards of the Hershey Trust Co. and the school for disadvantaged children that it benefits say they have consistently acted with the best interests of the school in mind. The trust has said Reese was an integral part of the decision-making process for many of the matters that he alleges were improper.
