PepsiCo Aims To Raise Recycling Rates

PURCHASE, N.Y. (AP) — PepsiCo said this week that it plans to promote higher rates of beverage container recycling in the U.S., as part of its environmental sustainability goals. The company plans to create partnerships that promote the increase of U.S. beverage container recycling rates to 50 percent by 2018.

The company plans to create partnerships that promote the increase of U.S. beverage container recycling rates to 50 percent by 2018.

PepsiCo will develop retail and consumer programs to support recycling and work with bottlers, suppliers and communities to support recycling. And it would help educate consumers about recycling while continuing to use recycled content for packaging.

PepsiCo shares rose 29 cents to close at $66.55.
