WASHINGTON (AP) — Federal officials say a Northern California company is recalling thousands of pounds of meat and poultry products because they were not inspected.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service said Friday that Vatran's Fine Foods Inc. is recalling 11,500 pounds of meat, lamb, chicken and sausage items.

Federal officials say the products by the Tracy-based firm were distributed to retail stores in the San Joaquin Valley. They were packaged under the Vatran brand and under the Montibella Sausage Company brand.

Federal officials say there have been no reports of people getting sick from the products.

A person who answered the phone after hours at the company, but declined to give his name, denied the products made it to retail stores.
