INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Seed maker Monsanto Co. said Monday that three of its corn traits have received regulatory approval for export to Mexico.

The company said export approval for its Genuity SmartStax, Genuity VT Triple Pro and Genuity VT Double Pro corn traits will enable U.S. and Canadian farmers who plant them to market their grain in Mexico in 2010.

Monsanto jointly developed Genuity SmartStax with Dow AgroSciences LLC, a unit of rival Dow Chemical Co.

Mexico is the latest of several countries where the corn traits have received regulatory approval. Monsanto said it expects approval in Korea for its VT Double Pro trait during the 2010 growing season.

Shares of Monsanto rose 65 cents to $78.53 in afternoon trading.
