KENNER, La. (AP) — A Louisiana food and drink manufacturer has paid more than $46,000 in overtime and back wages to 35 workers to resolve a lawsuit brought by the U.S. Department of Labor.

An investigation by the department's wage and hour division found that Kiko Foods Inc. was in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act for failing to pay production employees their wages for work performed from Jan. 31 to Feb. 20. The total amount paid to settle the dispute was $46,360.

The department says Kiko Foods agreed to resolve the violations after the court issued an order prohibiting shipments of goods made by the affected employees until the back wages were paid in full.

Kiko Foods, owned by Southern Sales Systems in Kenner, manufactures and produces purified water, beverages and drink mixes.
