Scorching heat, little rain and the draw of more lucrative crops could produce one of the smallest peanut harvests in recent memory. U.S. farmers are expected to produce roughly 1.8 million tons of peanuts in the U.S. this year, down nearly 13 percent from last year, according to a survey released Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011 by the Department of Agriculture.
