TRENTON, Mich. (AP) — A freighter carrying coal has been freed after running aground in the Detroit River.
The Detroit News reports the freighter was bound for a DTE Energy Co. power plant in Trenton when it ran aground Monday just north of a bridge connecting Grosse Ile and Trenton, near Detroit.
The U.S. Coast Guard says a tug boat freed the freighter, which had been traveling from Toledo, Ohio. The cause is under investigation.
Detroit-based DTE says the incident wasn't expected to affect operations or the supply at the plant.
