CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Construction has begun on a new $237 million power plant near Cheyenne.

The plant will primarily generate electricity for Cheyenne Light, Fuel and Power customers but it will also supply electricity for Black Hills Power customers. Both are subsidiaries of Black Hills Corp.

Cheyenne Light spokeswoman Sharon Fain says the natural gas-powered facility is expected to be complete in October 2014.

When the facility is complete, it will employ 10 to 12 full-time workers.

Fain tells the Wyoming Tribune Eagle that during peak construction, about 400 workers will be on-site.
