Trina Solar Ltd. said Monday that it received approval to develop a 50 megawatt grid-connected solar power plant project in north central China.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
China-based Trina said the semi-desert region where the town of Wuwei is located is well-suited for solar energy production due to its strong sunlight and its ability to sell off electricity to other regions in addition to supplying local needs.
Trina's U.S.-traded shares fell 3 cents to $5.59 in afternoon trading.
