Portland General Electric plans to start construction next month on a third natural gas-fueled power plant at Port Westward along the Columbia River near Clatskanie.
Unlike the first two plants, The Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/15Yq0xD) this one will operate only during times of peak electricity demand.
PGE says the new $300 million plant will give it flexibility to use unpredictable renewable resources such as wind and solar power.
