Sealed Air, the owner of Bubble Wrap, says its president and chief operating officer, Jerome A. Peribere, has taken over as its CEO, succeeding William Hickey who is retiring from that job.
The appointment was part of a succession plan announced in August.
At that time the food packaging company said that Hickey planned to retire and that he would be succeeded by Peribere, a former Dow Chemical Co. executive.
Peribere started with Sealed Air in September as president and chief operating officer. The Elmwood Park, N.J., company said Friday that the COO post is being discontinued.
Hickey will remain chairman until Sealed Air's annual shareholders meeting in May.
Last month Sealed Air Corp. said that it narrowed its fourth-quarter loss and predicted better results for this year.
