LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — The final report on a deadly 2011 chemical plant fire in Louisville is expected to be released Thursday.
The independent U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board said in a release it will hold a news conference and a public meeting on the findings.
A pair of explosions at the Carbide Industries plant on March 21, 2011, killed two longtime employees. Fifty-six-year-old Jorge Medina, of Louisville, and 59-year-old Steven Nicholas of Charlestown, Ind., died from burn injuries.
The plant produces calcium carbide, which is used in metal fabrication and construction. It is located in a part of Louisville known as Rubbertown for its many petrochemical companies.
The news conference and later public meeting will be held at the Seelbach Hilton in Louisville.
