GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) — A north-central Montana economic development company says a second oilfield equipment assembly facility is planned for the Bynum area.
Sarah Converse of Sweetgrass Development says Mississippi-based Yates Constructors plans to assemble components that hold together giant pipes at an oil sands project in Alberta, Canada.
She tells the Great Falls Tribune (http://gftrib.com/ShrM87) that the company plans to start hiring 75 to 100 workers beginning in April.
Texas-based Lauren Engineers & Constructors last year announced plans to build an assembly plant in Bynum to put together equipment modules destined for the oils sands project.
Bynum is one of the first places where large oilfield equipment can be put together in large sections and hauled to Canada without crossing a mountain pass or other difficult road obstacles.
