KINGSPORT, Tenn., Nov. 26, 2012Residential Design + Build magazine has included Perennial Wood" decking on its list of 2012 Top 100 Products. The annual list recognizes products that have generated the most interest with readers over the past 12 months. Featured in the NovemberDecember issue, the full list is available here.

Made by Eastman Chemical Company, Perennial Wood is real wood modified to endure nature's harshest elements. It is modified through TruLast" Technology to resist changes from moisture and remain dimensionally stable making it suitable for nearly any outdoor application where the beauty of real wood is desired without wood's traditional drawbacks. Launched in February 2012, Perennial Wood decking was the first available application of the new modified wood product. Perennial Wood is also available in porch flooring and to other manufacturers for use in their products such as outdoor furniture, windows and doors.

"Perennial Wood offers longevity without sacrificing the beauty of real wood," said Deborah Baum Crain, director of Perennial Wood. "We are pleased with the recognition from Residential Design + Build and the level of interest from readers."

Longevity and Stability

TruLast Technology permanently modifies the wood, providing a physical barrier throughout that's warranted to protect against rot, decay and movement for 25 years. It is three times more stable than unmodified wood, resulting in less shrinking and swelling that cause bowing, cupping and warping without sacrificing the beauty of real wood.

Sustainability

Because it lasts longer than most unmodified wood, Perennial Wood needs to be replaced less often, resulting in less material disposal over the long term. TruLast Technology leaves no toxic substances within the wood, delivering peace of mind to homeowners. Perennial Wood is made from U.S. Southern pine and is processed and finished in the U.S., eliminating the need for shipping wood from offshore sources, lessening the environmental impact.

Perennial Wood decking and related components are available in New England at Lowe's stores, and select building materials retailers and deck dealers.
