TOKYO, Oct. 18 (Kyodo) — Chemicals company Ube Industries Ltd. said Thursday it has decided to build additional manufacturing facility for nylon at its Spanish subsidiary to meet growing demand for high added-value nylon in Europe and North America.
The new facility at Ube Engineering Plastics S.A. in the city of Castellon in eastern Spain is expected to start operations in March 2015 and provide 10,000 tons annually of nylon 6, a material used in packaging films for food, toiletries and detergents among other products, according to the company.
Ube Industries, the world's third-largest manufacturer of nylon 6, currently produces the material in Japan, Thailand and Spain with total global output of 148,000 tons annually.
