A renewable energy developer that halted $300 million worth of Idaho wind projects last week contends it's still a strong company.
Exergy Development Group President James Carkulis pledged not only to complete dairy digesters near Twin Falls, but also to make good on tardy sponsorship bills for the 2012 Exergy Tour bicycle race.
Carkulis said in a guest opinion to newspapers Wednesday he's personally disappointed his commitments outstripped his ability to pay them.
He added that suspending116 megawatts of southern Idaho wind projects was financially prudent, given the uncertain regulatory environment, expiring tax credits and the flight of European banks.
He hopes to revive them, should conditions improve.
Carkulis says his Boise-based company is proceeding on a 400-megawatt Texas wind farm and will complete a Minnesota wind project this year.
