Consol: Mines at 60 Percent after Conveyor Fix

Consol Energy Inc. says two southwestern Pennsylvania mines are back to producing at 60 percent capacity now that one of two conveyors has been repaired.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Consol Energy Inc. says two southwestern Pennsylvania mines are back to producing at 60 percent capacity now that one of two conveyors has been repaired.

The coal company says a conveyor collapse July 29 had halted coal production at two southwestern Pennsylvania mines that feed the company's Bailey Preparation Plant. The conveyors carry coal from the underground Bailey and Enlow Fork mines to the plant.

The Pittsburgh-based company says production resumed Thursday after one of the two conveyors was fixed. It was not immediately clear when the other conveyor might be fixed, enabling the mines to operate at full capacity.

The company resumed rail shipments of coal from the mines on Thursday, too.
