WABCO Holdings Inc. (NYSE: WBC), (www.wabco-auto.com) a global technology leader and tier-one supplier to the commercial vehicle industry, today showcased its breakthrough hydraulic anti-lock braking systems (ABS) - the industry's first and unique range of hydraulic ABS technology that integrates electronic stability control (ESC) for trucks and buses worldwide - at IAA Commercial Vehicles 2012 in Hanover, Germany.

WABCO's newest generation of hydraulic ABS integrates ESC for light- and medium-duty commercial vehicles. As the first supplier to bring such technology advancement in vehicle safety to market, WABCO significantly helps original equipment manufacturers to respond to government regulations that increasingly require ESC on different classes of commercial vehicles. From 2013 onwards, national authorities will be implementing ESC legislation in Europe, Asia, and North and South America.

WABCO pioneered ESC for commercial vehicles in 2001 and has continued to innovate. For example, WABCO has long supplied ESC with pneumatic ABS for heavy-duty vehicles, which typically do not use hydraulic braking. ESC improves directional stability and helps protect against roll-over, skidding, spinning and, in tractor-trailer combinations, jack-knifing.

"In 1981, WABCO pioneered ABS for commercial vehicles, which prevents locking of a vehicle's wheels when road friction is not sufficient to transmit braking forces, and our new generation of hydraulic ABS technology adds to our long list of breakthroughs since we brought ABS and ESC technologies to market," said Jean-Christophe Figueroa, WABCO Vice President, Vehicle Control Systems. "Our hydraulic ABS fully integrated with ESC also enables WABCO to take advantage of market growth driven by current and future regulations for compulsory ESC on commercial vehicles in different regions of the world."

WABCO supplies hydraulic ABS in cooperation with Continental AG's chassis and safety division. Headquartered in Hanover, Germany, Continental is a global automotive supplier.
