Tritan Provides Toughness, Resistance to Stains and Odors

July 19, 2012 Recognizing the need for durable, on-the-go blender cups, Euro-Pro Operating LLC, an innovative leader in the housewares industry, is using Eastman Tritan" copolyester for its Ninja® single-serve blending cups, part of the Ninja® Kitchen System Pulse" product line. Tritan a new-generation, bisphenol A-free copolyester offers a balance of properties, including toughness and dishwasher durability.
The cups are designed to make smoothies and drinks, chop vegetables, mix salad dressings and make dips. Because the Ninja single-serve blending cups are used often and can regularly be knocked over by active consumers, it was vital for Euro-Pro that Eastman Tritan" copolyester offer toughness to help the cups withstand multiple drops.
Eastman Tritan copolyester was the first and only material used for Ninja single-serve blending cups, said Morgan Handley, product manager, Ninja Kitchen. When developing the Ninja Kitchen System Pulse product line, it was important to develop a streamlined blending experience that would perform well given the uses we envisioned consumers would need in a single-serve blending cup.
Knowing the cups would be used to prepare, consume and store a variety of foods and would require frequent dishwashing, Euro-Pro valued that the properties of Eastman Tritan" copolyester would allow the cups to move from the freezer to the microwave without cracking or crazing and would resist stains and odors of the cups previous contents. The dishwasher durability of Tritan helps maintain the products functional integrity and aesthetic appeal.
We value that Eastman is a marketplace leader and has a reputation for providing quality products and technical expertise, Handley said. Eastman provided guidance on the best design for molding this product as well as support on the injection molding process. Eastman Tritan" copolyester is being considered for future Ninja Kitchen System and Ninja Professional Blender series products that are expected to launch this fall.
The Ninja Kitchen System Pulse product line is sold at all major retailers, including Walmart, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond and Kohls, as well as through television infomercial spots.
