AOL to Return Patent Proceeds

AOL Inc. reported higher advertising revenue for the first quarter, while onetime items helped earnings, as the Internet company moved to take the wind out of activist shareholder Starboard Value LP's sails by pre-emptively agreeing to many of its demands.
