A coalition of environmental groups has more than 3,000 petition signatures to deliver to PNM Resources Inc.'s Public Service Company of New Mexico utility.

The groups want Public Service Company of New Mexico to invest more in renewable energy.

The groups collected the signatures as part of an online petition drive and plan to present them to the utility following a rally outside PNM headquarters in Albuquerque on Tuesday afternoon.

PNM says state regulators have approved the utility's renewable energy plan for this year, and it's working on a plan to reach the state's 10 percent renewable energy mandate while staying within cost limits designed to protect customers.

PNM says it invested nearly $100 million last year to develop 22 megawatts of solar power at five sites around the state. It also brought online a new grid-connected solar power storage facility.
