MINOT, N.D. (AP) — An energy company that was denied a permit to store a large amount of flammable chemicals in a facility near the site of a proposed school in Minot says it may ask city officials to reconsider.
The Minot Daily news reports (https://bit.ly/MDuGN4) that the city council denied Baker Hughes' permit in May because the company's warehouse is located too close to the new Erik Ramstad Middle School site.
The company gave tours of the facility last week to school and city officials. The facility is slated to open on July 1.
Ralph Crabtree, a company vice president, says the company places a high priority on safety. He says facility has been built to specifications that exceed the city's safety regulations.
