TransCanada to Build $660M Pipeline for Oil Sands Mine

TransCanada Corp. has been selected by the Fort Hills partnership to build, own and operate a 90-kilometre pipeline system in northern Alberta.

CALGARY - TransCanada Corp. (TSX:TRP) has been selected by the Fort Hills partnership to build, own and operate a 90-kilometre pipeline system in northern Alberta.

The Calgary-based company says the proposed Northern Courier project will cost about $660 million to build.

It will stretch between the Fort Hills oilsands mine site and the Voyageur upgrader north of Fort McMurray, Alta.

The Northern Courier system will carry bitumen mined from the oilsands and the diluent used to soften the sticky oil-rich substance, sometimes called tar sands.
