DEARBORN, Mich., October 11, 2011 — The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) announced its call for presentation abstracts for the RAPID 2012 and 3D IMAGING Conference and Exposition to be held in Atlanta, May 22-25, 2012.

Speakers Invited to Present the Latest Trends, Advanced Applications and Case Studies for Additive Manufacturing and 3D Imaging

DEARBORN, Mich., October 11, 2011 — The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) announced its call for presentation abstracts for the RAPID 2012 and 3D IMAGING Conference and Exposition to be held in Atlanta, May 22-25, 2012.

The RAPID 2012 and 3D IMAGING events will reveal the latest developments, trends and techniques specific to additive manufacturing and 3D imaging at the industry’s largest forum for presentation and discussion.

“RAPID continues to be the source for expert information and advanced applications of rapid technologies,” said Society of Manufacturing Engineers Business Development Manager Gary Mikola. “Submission for presentations and case studies at all levels are welcome, and we especially encourage papers that share knowledge and expertise vital to users of additive manufacturing, 3D printing and 3D imaging technologies.

The deadline to submit abstracts is October 28, 2011. Submissions will be reviewed by the technical advisors of SME’s Rapid Technologies & Additive Manufacturing (RTAM) Community. Presentations will inform attendees and contribute to a comprehensive collection of research, case studies and application notes in subject areas such as:

Conference speakers who present formal technical papers that demonstrate technical merit and advanced uses of rapid technologies influential to the additive manufacturing industry will be considered for the Dick Aubin Distinguished Paper Award. All speakers are entitled to the benefits of special registration and full credentials.
