Manufacturers File Petition on EPA’s Cross-State Air Pollution Rule
10/05/11 - National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Vice President for Energy and Resources Policy Chip Yost released this statement on the petition the NAM filed today with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to reconsider and stay the Cross-State Air Pollution Rule:“The EPA’s Cross-State Air Pollution rule will only place more burdens on our economy by increasing utility costs. Manufacturers use one-third of our nation’s energy supply, and this rule will only make it more difficult for manufacturers to remain competitive.
The NAM is asking the EPA to reconsider and stay the final rule to reduce the negative impact on manufacturers. If this rule is implemented, companies will be forced to shutter plants, directly resulting in job losses, and harming our energy security. Now is the time for the EPA to act to protect jobs.”
