Chemical Test Results due in Maine Products

Maine baby and toddler foods have been tested for the chemical bisphenol-A and the results will be released in Augusta.

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Maine baby and toddler foods have been tested for the chemical bisphenol-A and the results will be released in Augusta.

The Alliance for a Clean and Healthy Maine and a Waterville-based group called Mainely Moms and Dads will announce the test results and a BPA-Free Food campaign that will follow.

Bisphenol A is a man-made chemical that's been linked to cancer, learning disabilities and obesity.

The Maine Legislature last year made the use of the chemical illegal in baby bottles, sippy cups and other reusable food and beverage containers effective Jan. 1.
