President Obama travels to New York today to participate in the United Nations General Assembly. He returns to Washington on Wednesday. On Thursday, he travels to Cincinnati, Ohio, to promote his jobs plan and talk about infrastructure.

The Senate gavels in this afternoon and will vote at 5:30 p.m. to proceed to consideration of the Generalized System of Preferences bill (H.R. 2832), which sets the stage for approval of the free trade agreements with Colombia, South Korea and Panama.

Business in the House begins on Tuesday. Later in the week, the House is expected to vote on the Transparency in Regulatory Analysis of Impacts on the Nation (TRAIN) Act of 2011 (H.R. 2401). That measure is the second piece of legislation in the House’s regulatory repeal agenda.

The Super Committee holds a hearing on Wednesday on tax reform. That same day, the Joint Economic Committee holds a hearing on “Manufacturing in the USA: How U.S. Trade Policy Offshores Jobs.”
