MAGNOLIA, Ark. (AP) -- A worker at a steel mill in Magnolia is dead after an accident that occurred while changing a cable on an overhead crane.
The Banner-News reports (http://bit.ly/mZ9DoO) that 55-year-old Gene Drake of Waldo was killed in the late Tuesday morning accident at CMC Steel Arkansas.
Coroner Randy Reed says Drake was the leader of a maintenance crew that was changing the cable. Drake's body has been sent for an autopsy, which Reed said should determine the cause of death.
The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration in Little Rock confirmed Wednesday that the agency is investigating the accident.
CMC Steel Director of Operations Steven Hughes says the company is working with local and federal authorities to determine the cause of the accident.
