Eastman Chemical Co. said Thursday it bought Scandiflex do Brasil SA Industrias Quimicas, which makes material used to produce pliable plastic.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The Brazilian company had 2010 sales of $54 million. It became part of Eastman's performance-chemicals segment and is expected to boost Eastman's related business in Latin America and add new products.

Shares of Kingsport-based Eastman fell $1.76, or 2.1 percent, to $80.97.
