Solae Takes Soy Protein Nuggets to New Level

SUPRO® Nugget 570 is the highest protein nugget on the market and SUPRO® Nugget 173 is the first protein and multigrain nugget on the market.

Solae has a history of ingredient innovation in the food industry. The company was the first to introduce soy protein nuggets (or crisps) into nutrition bars, helping to build a category that now is over $1 billion dollars in sales and growing, thanks to the popularity of high-protein bars.

Taking the soy protein nugget to new levels, Solae recently used patent-pending technology to develop new nuggets for use in a variety of applications — from bars to baked goods and even confectionary.

“We are able to leverage our extensive soy protein expertise, extrusion capabilities and application knowledge to create offerings that enable us to move into new and exciting market segments,” said Michele Fite, vice president of global strategy and marketing and specialty business. “These new soy protein nuggets provide our customers with the opportunity to deliver more nutritious, great-tasting products to consumers.”

Solae introduced the following two new nuggets that use patent-pending technology:

  • SUPRO® Nugget 570 — the first and only nugget in the marketplace that is 90% protein on a dry weight basis, making it the highest containing soy protein nugget on the market. This nugget can be used for nutritional bars, snacks, bakery products, cereals and more.
  • SUPRO® Nugget 173 — the first protein and multigrain nugget on the market that combines protein and rice, barley and oat in a single nugget.

Solae developed these nuggets based on growing consumer health and wellness needs. Several customers have successfully tested SUPRO® Nugget 570 and 173 in their products, and Solae has received positive feedback and interest.
