GreenWorld Restoration, LLC is pleased to announce its participation as a finalist for the Building Back Better Communities ("BBBC") housing competition, an initiative from the Government of Haiti and sponsored by the Clinton Foundation, to discover and promote the best solutions for the re-housing of displaced Haitians following the devastating earthquake of January 2010. GreenWorld Restoration entered the housing competition to demonstrate its unique GRIS housing solution and was chosen as one of 140 finalists among 400 entries. Finalists included home builders, architects and product companies (approximately 30 or less finalists in attendance were also homebuilders).

The GreenRestore Integrated Solution (GRIS) was designed specifically to address issues faced in rebuilding after catastrophic disasters. The solution provides easy conversion from temporary shelter to permanent homes and comes with solar panel, a "cool roof" system, waterless septic devices and rainwater catchment for home performance on or off the grid. With an ease of design, the homes can be constructed in 2 days or less -- allowing the people living in tent cities to transition to a safer structure in little time. The exterior has been adjusted to allow the design to reflect the Haitian culture. With a holistic solution in mind, 30% of profits from GreenWorld Restoration will be contributed to the Worldwide Maniac Foundation, which will be redistributed back into the Haitian community, providing clean water and sustainable food production to the families in which GreenWorld serves.

Finalists attended the first segment of the Expo in Port Au Prince January 31 - February 3, where they participated in technical workshops and a networking forum to meet representatives of the Government of Haiti, community leaders, and BBBC organizers. In May 2011, finalists will build their homes at a site north of Port au Prince for a Housing Expo. Top Finalists from the May Housing Expo will be invited back to help build an Exemplar Community for 125 families in Port-au-Prince that will define a template for rebuilding housing developments and as a road map for the inclusion of renewable energy, education, culture and livelihoods. Comments company CEO Michael Torres, "We are honored to be part of the rebuilding effort in Haiti and look forward to providing solutions for the people of Haiti, not just products."
