TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan will see mostly average to milder temperatures this winter, the official forecaster said on Wednesday, which could limit the use of heaters and dampen energy demand during the coldest time of year.
Northern Japan, the main heating oil market, has a 40 percent chance of warmer temperatures than average during the December-February period, the Japan Meteorological Agency said in its semiannual longer-term outlook report.
Eastern Japan, including the densely populated Tokyo area, and western Japan each have a 40 percent chance of average temperatures during those months.
