CANBERRA (Reuters) - Australia's multi-party climate committee on Friday said it had not yet reached an agreement on how to put a price on carbon emissions, with talks on a new policy to continue over the coming months, Climate Minister Greg Combet said on Friday.

Media reports had suggested the committee was set to agree to impose a fixed price on carbon emissions from July 2012, as a interim measure until a carbon trade scheme could be set up from around 2015.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard has asked the climate committee to decide by the end of 2011 on how to best price carbon emissions to help Australia curb emissions.
