TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- Redevelopment plans for a former Jeep assembly complex include more than 900,000 square feet of industrial space and a riverfront park at the northwest Ohio site.
The plans released Thursday for the Jeep Parkway property in Toledo were developed by a consultant for the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority.
The Blade reports that the park along the Ottawa River would be planted with native vegetation and feature a multi-use trail, shelters and stations providing details on area history.
The port authority bought the 111-acre property from a Chrysler liquidation company in October for $95,000. Officials have lined up about $6.1 million in grants to clean up pollution left from factory operations.
Chrysler moved its Jeep operations to its North Toledo Assembly complex early last decade and razed the Jeep Parkway facilities in 2007.
